My 2018 Reading List: 11 Books for Creative and Personal Growth

Happy New Year!

I’ve never been one to make resolutions or set too many expectations around the New Year. This year, however, things are different. I have plans and goals, and I am determined to grow both personally and professionally in 2018. One of my intentions for the year is to read more regularly. So, I’ve created a reading list to help spur my creative and intellectual growth, and I thought I would share it with you!

This list contains texts in no particular order, with links to where you can purchase a copy yourself. Enjoy!

1. A Kiowa’s Odyssey: A Sketchbook from Fort Marion, edited by Phillip Earenfight

I received a signed edition of this text from a dear mentor before I graduated in 2015. Though I have skimmed it, I have not yet taken the time to really read it critically. Now’s the time!

2. If Not, Winter: Fragmens of Sappho, edited by Anne Carson

3. Carmilla by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu

4. The Complete Color Harmony, Pantone Edition: Expert Color Information for Professional Results by Leatrice Eiseman

5. Blog, Inc.: Blogging for Passion, Profit, and to Create Community by Joy Deangdeelert Cho

6. Steal Like An Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative by Austin Kleon

7. Show Your Work: 10 Ways to Share Your Creativity And Get Discovered by Austin Kleon

8. Manage Your Day-To-Day: Build Your Routine, Find Your Focus, & Sharpen Your Creative Mind, edited by Jocelyn K. Glei

11. The Legend of Korra Turf Wars, Part Two by Michael Dante DiMartino et al.

I’ve pre-ordered Turf Wars, Part Two, and I cannot wait to receive it. I loved The Legend of Korra animated series, and Turf Wars, Part One did not disappoint. It was beautifully written and illustrated, and I am looking forward to diving into the next part of the story.
